Margaret Gintoft - MSW, LCSW mgintoft@TherapiesEast.com 414-278-7980 ext. 102
I am very pleased to have an opportunity to introduce myself and my work to you. I’ve practiced in the metropolitan Milwaukee community for over 20 years in several capacities and with a variety of populations, including oncology and hospice work, group home work with adolescents, inpatient psychiatric work and 18 years of outpatient psychotherapy . I very simply love having the privilege to work with people in any way that I can in resolving short and longer term conflicts, relationship skill building, exploring internal and external changes, managing stressors and challenges and facing the inevitable changes that we all must journey through. My work rests on the belief that each person carries the potential for deep contentment and joy, whatever life’s circumstances, and the art of psychotherapy can be an essential tool in achieving that contentment.
My approach is quite eclectic, incorporating psychodynamic, family systems, and self-psychology in an insight oriented style for treating anxiety, depression and other mood disorders. I believe that there can be a successful “marriage” of our medical and intuitive/spiritual knowledge and work closely with clients’ physicians should medication be indicated by symptoms which interrupt functioning and wellness, adding ‘talk therapy’, education, support, relaxation skills, guided imagery and visualization, meditation, mindfulness and centering to the creative task of healing. I have worked extensively with trauma recovery and post traumatic stress disorder, as well as eating disorders. I enjoy working with most ages, from adolescence through the later-life years, tailoring the therapy to the individual.
The impact of life’s stuggles and challenges over the life span often call us to seek support and a fresh perspective in our relationships. I enjoy working with persons of all orientations on in-depth relationship and marital and family therapy, encouraging all parties to explore, in a mutual, honest and and cooperative style, the profound level of impact that these deep connections have on us all. Life’s struggles and challenges over the life span often call us to seek support and fresh perspective in our relationships and we at Therapies East offer conjoint couples work that simultaneously provides each individual the therapy and support needed as well as a safe environment to do the work of relationships in joint sessions. Regardless of the problem, I believe in nurturing integrated emotional presence to oneself and others in a safe and truly ‘intimate’ context.
In my work with couples, I also offer expertise in the Gottman Marital Therapy Model as well as the process of Collaborative Divorce, should more definitive change be needed. Providing safety and mutual respect during times of difficult change is possible through this process.
Whatever the problem, need or personal goal, I will work with you towards nurturing an emotional presence to oneself and others in a safe context. I would be delighted to meet with you at your convenience to allow you to determine our potential to work together. |
